Back in my days if you wanted to sail around the world you found a solid sea worthy boat, the best sextant you could afford, did all you could to prepare yourself and provision her, then set out knowing full well you were looking at two notorious capes famous for kicking sailors around since Vasco De Gama first tried Good Hope. These days it’s a different ball game. Take a look at this short video to see how modern sailors cope with those capes.
